NFL Pick 6: Week 2

Week 1 is in the books and the NFL season is rolling! That means so is the Pick 6, so let’s go!

1. The Rams and Jared Goff looked good!?!? Was this just the bad Colts or will we continue to see the Rams win some games?

Kevin: Yes, the Colts are bad, ESPECIALLY without Andrew Luck. But this is the NFL, and beating a team 46-9 means something. I don’t expect them to make the playoffs, but with 2 games against the 49ers and playing the AFC South certainly gives them a chance at a .500 season.

Bill: WOW. A .500 season, eh? I think the Rams are AWFUL. The Colts with Luck are bad. With Tolzien? Maybe worse than the Jets until Luck returns. To me, one 46-9 game means little to nothing. I need to wait a few weeks to be convinced they won’t have a top 5 draft pick.

2. The Vikings! Here at the Pick 6 the Vikings are our favorite team to talk about and they look great again. Will they make the playoffs?

Kevin: I can’t jump on the bandwagon yet. Their defense is legit once again, but I am not a believer in the offense yet. If they beat the Steelers this week I am jumping on that wagon though.

Bill: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Come on Kev! Didn’t you learn your lesson from last year? Sammy Sleeves did look fantastic but they will not make the playoffs.

3. It took one half for the Texans to bench Tom Savage and bring in Deshaun Watson. Will Watson keep the job for the rest of the season?

Kevin: Well the Texans plan on starting him tonight, and I think Watson will be able to play well enough to keep the job for the season. I don’t expect the Texans to make the playoffs though.

Bill: The game is tonight and rumors are that Watson will start. What is O’Brien’s deal with keeping this secret? Savage should be thankful to be on a NFL roster. Let Watson play. I think the Texans are a fringe playoff team with Watson (not even close with Savage). The problem is predicting a rookie QB’s play.

4. The Chiefs were very effective on offense and made a lot of huge plays on their way to defeating the Patriots in Foxborough. Are they the best team in the AFC?

Kevin: No. This is a team that has no #1 WR, a rookie RB, and Alex Smith still leading them at QB. They are very good, but I am not ready to put them as the favorites in the AFC after only one week. The Patriots have a lot of injuries and I think that helped the Chiefs offense significantly, and their secondary looked very confused before the snaps. I expect them to clean this up and still win the AFC.

Bill: WOW. Not nice Kev. Tyreek Hill has a NFL record 5 straight regular season games with a 60+ yard TD, Kareem Hunt looked incredible and is playing for Andy Reid, and Alex Smith had arguably the best game of his CAREER.The Chiefs are a playoff team and I hope they meet the Pats at some point in the postseason. So that Bill and co. can OBLITERATE them.

5. What is going on in New Orleans? Adrian Peterson played 9 total snaps, Ingram played 26, and Kamara played 31 and all were very inefficient until some check downs in the fourth.

Kevin: For one, the Vikings defense is solid. Secondly, the Saints have always been a passing team. I was confused when they signed AP and my skepticism was confirmed Monday night. This looks like a confused team that should not have traded Brandin Cooks. Kamara will the feature back by the end of the season and AP will score the touchdowns. Not sure where Ingram fits though.

Bill: I hate to react so boldly after one game, but I’m not sure AP makes it through the season there. I agree Kamara gets the most touches and he 100% should as he best fits their offense. The Saints will be terrible again but maybe the AP-Payton thing will boil over and that will be entertaining! Side note: the Saints should 100% restructure their offense to take pressure off Brees and make their offense less predictable. That would include giving AP a lot of touches. They won’t do it, and Payton should be immediately fired.

6. Andy Dalton. Go!

Kevin: O wow, what a day for Dalton. The last QB to play that poorly in a game lost his job, but then later that season was the starting QB for the Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos… AJ McCarron time anyone?

Bill: AJ who?! I cannot believe he is in the NFL. The real wonder here is how Marvin Lewis still has a job. If I’m the Bengals it’s time to make a decision. That decision should probably be to tank for a QB sometime soon. Which, I admit, makes stating AJ a good idea.

PAT or Go for 2? (Bill leads 2-1)

PAT: Jets @ Raiders (Bill)

2 Point Conversion: Titans (Kevin) @ Jaguars
